The transformation of Aladdin into Planet Hollywood is one step closer to its conclusion. Mike Dean, CEO of MJ Dean Construction, said that the basic work is done.
They are now waiting for some permits to be approved and working on the design of new developments. “We have already finished the key elements of the transformation,” said Robert Earl, Co-Director of Aladdin and owner of OpBiz.
The new design of the Aladdin includes a new category (to match the Mandalay Bay, The Mirage and MGM Grand). The transformation to become Planet Hollywood started on October and should be over by the fourth trimester of 2006.
The Aladdin’s CEO, Mike Mecca, said that the transformations were mostly to give more entertainment, casino and restaurant space to the Hotel & Casino. “The new design is very contemporary, competitive and accessible”.
The property is still undergoing the process and Mecca said that, despite the fact that they are in the middle of a transformation, the occupancy rate has kept a high level, 90%.
