Nobody knows better than Harrah’s, the biggest casinos owner in the world, that when you play sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Well, this time the house lost the hand. Financial crisis has sucked Harrah’s profitability just when it was facing an ambitious international expansion plan.
Bad moments will have consequences in its most emblematic project in Europe, Don Quijote’s Kingdom, a casino identical to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which was going to have five four and five star hotels, a luxury shopping center, an Asian resort, three golf courses and 9,000 rooms.
Machines continue working, but the only touchable thing about this casino project is the golf course with nine holes and a little restaurant made with prefabricated materials. There is nothing else on the 1,250 natural spot hectares. The golf course is a green spot surrounded by dirt.
The project’s core is the casino, inspired on Las Vegas Caesars Palace, but Harrah´s has announced that its execution, in which according to some sources 38 millions euros have been invested, is totally paralyzed. The firm has all legal permissions but needs financing.
